Speakers
Burton Folsom, Jr. is
Historian in Residence at the Center for the American Idea. He received
his Ph.D. in History from the University of Pittsburgh and has taught
American History at the University of Pittsburgh, University of Nebraska,
Northwood University, Hillsdale College, and Murray State University,
where he was tenured full professor. Also he is the editor of Continuity:
A Journal of History. He is the author of The Myth of the Robber Barons,
Empire Builders, and Urban Capitalists, among other books.

Gleaves Whitney has
been Senior Fellow of the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal since
1995. He has been Senior Scholar at the Center for the American Idea since
1998. He received his postgraduate education at the University of Michigan,
where he was a Richard M. Weaver Fellow (1987-1988) and an H. B. Earhart
Fellow (1988-1991). He is the chief historian for Michigan Governor John
Engler.

Bradley J. Birzer is an assistant professor of history at Hillsdale
College in Hillsdale, Michigan. Dr. Birzer was in the past a visiting
professor in western American and Indian History at the University of
Texas at San Antonio. He received his Ph.D. in United States History from
Indiana University, with a minor in Latin American History. He received
his B.A. in European and U.S. History from the University of Notre Dame
and his M.A. in Western American History from Utah State University. Dr.
Birzer is a Senior Fellow with the Center for the American Idea.
