Speakers:
Fr. Donald S. Nesti, CSSp, is Director of the Center for Faith and Culture at the University of St. Thomas. He founded the Center in 1994 in response to Pope John Paul II’s encyclical Redemptoris Missio and his 1983 creation of the Pontifical Council for Culture. Fr. Nesti was ordained to the priesthood in 1963. He earned a licentiate and a doctorate in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He has taught at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA; the Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus, OH; and currently the University of St. Thomas School of Theology, Houston, TX. He was president of Duquesne University from 1980 to 1987. In addition, Fr. Nesti has lectured extensively, authored books, published numerous articles and served as retreat master for clergy, laity and religious groups.

Barbara Elliott is the Executive Director and Founder of the Center for Renewal, a resource center for social entrepreneurs working in the inner cities of America. She is a former Senior Fellow with the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty, where she was the director of the Samaritan Awards. She was from 1984-1989 an international television correspondent, covering economic and political news for PBS on its program European Journal. She later launched a private initiative to assist refugees fleeing communist countries. She is the author of Candles Behind the Wall: Heroes of the Peaceful Revolution that Shattered Communism, and numerous articles. Mrs. Elliott was appointed by President Reagan to the Office of Public Liaison the first year of his presidency, after having served as the Director of Legislative Information for the Heritage Foundation for the previous three years. Before that, she served as the director of the Center for Constructive Alternatives at Hillsdale College, and the editor of its journal, Imprimis.

Burton Folsom, Jr. is Historian in Residence at the Center for the American Idea. He received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Pittsburgh and has taught American History at the University of Pittsburgh, University of Nebraska, Northwood University, Hillsdale College, and Murray State University, where he was tenured full professor. Also he is the editor of Continuity: A Journal of History. He is the author of The Myth of the Robber Barons, Empire Builders, and Urban Capitalists, among other books.
