John Alvis is professor of English at the University of Dallas, where he has taught since 1969. He is the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship and the National Association of Scholars Fellowship. He is the author of four books and has written numerous articles published in periodicals such as Intercollegiate Review, Claremont Review and The Political Science Reviewer. He has also arranged and directed a host of Liberty Fund Conferences. Dr. Alvis received his Ph.D. from the University of Dallas in Politics and Literature, and his M.A. and B.A. from the University of Dallas in English.
