Center for the American Idea - Speakers Patricia Smith Prather is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Texas Trailblazer Preservation Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of the African American presence in Texas History. Ms. Prather is also Co-Editor of Texas Trailblazer Series, a monthly publication that features biographies and photographs of Texas pioneers. In addition to over seventy articles about African American Texas leaders, which have been published in state and national publications including Texas Highways and American Visions, she is Co-Author (with Jane Clements Monday) of From Slave to Statesman: The Legacy of Joshua Houston, Servant to Sam Houston. Ms. Prather is a graduate of Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. |
