Center for the American Idea - Speakers Major Stevenson is a James Madison Fellow, fifth generation Houstonian and graduate of Jack Yates High School. He has a B.L.S. degree in History from Saint Edward's University, and a M.S. Degree in History from the University of Houston. In 1995, Mr. Stevenson competed for and was awarded a fellowship from the James Madison Memorial Foundation. In 1994, he was named Teacher of the Year at Carter G. Woodson Middle School.
